Emerald cut green stone held in claw settings, seen under the microscope

Birmingham Jewellery Quarter

Your dream, brought to life.

Bespoke jewellery, designed with you and made at my bench in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.

Birmingham Jewellery Quarter Part of 250 years of history Jewellers have worked these streets since the 1770s. My bench is one of them.

Made from scratch

Engagement rings, wedding bands and one-offs — designed with you and built from nothing, not ordered in from a catalogue.

Bringing old pieces back

An inherited ring that never gets worn, or a stone sat in a drawer. I'll design something around it that you'll actually want on your hand.

Craftsmanship other jewellers trust

Workshops across the Quarter send me their pieces for the setting — including pavé, which I trained in Spain to specialise in. If they trust me with theirs, you can trust me with yours.

Testimonials

“My grandmother's diamond held so much sentimental value, and Olly transformed it into the perfect engagement ring for my partner. The finished piece is beautiful and means more to us than I could put into words.”

— Edward, remounted family diamond

“Had an engagement ring made and honestly couldn't be happier with it. I showed Olly a couple of pictures of what I liked and he helped me put the final design together. My fiancée absolutely loves it. Would definitely recommend.”

— Aran, engagement ring

“My ring is absolutely gorgeous and even more beautiful than I imagined. You were so lovely throughout the whole process and made everything feel so easy. I'm completely obsessed with it and haven't stopped looking at it since.”

The person behind the bench

Meet the maker

The story behind the pieces

My Dad has been at the bench for forty years. He taught me everything he knows — except the one part I travelled two countries to master.

Start your commission

Three quick questions, and I'll come back to you personally within a day.

You don't need it all worked out — a photo, a rough idea or a stone you already own is plenty to start with.

Step 1 of 3
What are you looking for?

Select whichever is closest — nothing is set in stone.

Step 2 of 3
About the piece

As much or as little detail as you have.

Got a photo of something you like? Send it straight to my phone on WhatsApp

The commission process

Four stages, from first conversation to the finished piece in your hands.

1

Initial consultation

In person, over the phone or by email — whichever suits you. You don't need to be in Birmingham; plenty of commissions are worked out entirely at a distance. Send over a photo, a rough sketch, or just tell me what you're picturing. If you've got a stone already, bring it. This part's free and doesn't commit you to anything.

2

Design and approval

Metal, stones and the shape of it, agreed before I start — with options at a few different budgets so there's no awkward surprise later.

This is also where we settle on your stone. I source both natural and lab-grown diamonds, and I'll lay out the options side by side so you can compare them properly.

3

Making and setting

Once your deposit's in, the clock starts. Most engagement rings are finished within 10 to 14 days — quicker than most places, because the work never leaves my bench.

The piece gets made and every stone goes in by hand, under the microscope. I'll send you photos along the way so you can see it coming together.

4

Completion and handover

Polished, checked over properly and in your hands. And it doesn't end there — if it ever needs a clean, a resize or just a look over in ten years' time, bring it back to me. I made it, so I'll always look after it.

FAQ

How long does it take?

Most engagement rings are finished within 10 to 14 days of your deposit. More intricate pieces — pavé work, unusual stones, one-offs — take longer, and I'll give you a firm completion date before any work begins. If you're working towards a particular date, tell me early and I'll be straight with you about whether it's doable.

Can you use a stone or ring I already have?

Yes, and it's some of my favourite work. An inherited ring that never gets worn, or a stone sat in a drawer for years — I can design something around it that you'll actually want on your hand. I'll check the stone over first and tell you honestly if there's any risk in resetting it.

Do you use lab-grown or natural diamonds?

Both. They're identical in hardness, brilliance and fire. Natural stones are rarer and hold their value better; lab-grown are considerably cheaper, so your budget stretches to a larger or finer stone, though resale value is minimal. I'll lay out the options side by side and you choose.

What if I don't know what I want yet?

That's normal, and it's the part I enjoy most. Bring anything that's caught your eye, even if it seems contradictory, and we'll work out what you're actually drawn to. Part of my job is turning a vague idea into something specific.

Do I need to be in Birmingham?

No. Plenty of commissions are worked out entirely by phone, email and WhatsApp — photos, sketches and updates back and forth. If you are nearby, you're very welcome to come to the workshop, though it's appointment only, so ring ahead.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, if that's what suits you. You're welcome to collect from the workshop, or I can send it fully insured and tracked, anywhere in the world. Delivery is quoted alongside your commission. Any customs or import charges in your country are down to you, so it's worth checking those before we start.

It's a surprise — can you help me keep it that way?

Yes. I'm happy to work around whatever you need: discreet messages, calls at a time that suits, and nothing turning up unexpectedly. If you're unsure on size, the safest way is to borrow a ring she already wears on that finger and I'll size from it. If it's still not right when the time comes, I'll resize it.

What happens after I've got the ring?

Bring it back any time. If it ever needs a clean, a resize, or just a look over the settings in ten years' time, I'll sort it. I made it, so I'll always look after it.

Do you take on work for other jewellers?

Yes — a good part of my week is setting work for other workshops around the Jewellery Quarter, pavé included. If you're in the trade, get in touch the same way.
